Earlier this week I experimented with an Ultimarc Trackball which was super easy to integrate as it just outputs mouse deltas by default.
The initial impression was... not great! Precision is much harder to achieve with a trackball and I've really come to love the feel of the game on a mouse and I would really like not to lose that. I am not giving up on the trackball which has been on my mind for a long time. I will try and tweak the acceleration and navigation logic to accommodate it, but I am also going to explore alternate arcade control schemes, like the fully analog mode of the Ultimarc UltraStik 360.
I think I can get something similar to the feel I have working on an analog joystick. We will see.
